Paintings inspired by the world I see around me and the emotions I feel. I mainly use Acrylic as I love the ability it gives me to play with textures.
The Eye of the Storm
I am a keen wild swimmer and swim all through the year in both rivers and the sea. I took up wild swimming to help combat anxiety and I soon discovered the huge benefits it brings. As you plunge into the cold water your breath is taken away and your whole body becomes aware of your surroundings. I have found that after that initial reaction there comes a sense of utter calm. This moment inspired the painting. Like the calm in the eye of a storm, it’s the moment when all my worries drift away.
Out of the Ashes
Painted in 2019, this piece was inspired by the journey of someone I love through depression and into a place of wellness. Like a phoenix raising from the ashes. It is acrylic on canvas with just a little extra sparkle added. It was painted with the intention of being a joyful celebration.
